Princess Mary probably received the smallest of wedding rings ever made, she married the son of King Francis 1 in 1518, keeping to the traditions of this period the piece will have been a very simple gold band.
When Brad Pitt married Jennifer Anniston in 2000, Pitt decided to take on the task of designing the rings himself. His ambition when designing the jewellery was to attempt to make the pieces unique and distinctive. The movie superstar settled on the jewellery being made from white gold and diamonds with “Brad 2000” and “Jen 2000” engraved on the rings.

In 1477 Maximillian 1 of Austria selected a diamond ring for his bride Mary of Burgundy, This marriage united the houses of Hadsbury and Burgundy and is the first known instance of a diamond engagement ring.
Prince Rainer of Monaco married Hollywood’s princess, Grace Kelly in 1956. He had given her a 12 carat emerald and diamond ring. In her final movie, (was this as she was to be married?) High Society, Bing Crosby quipped” some store, did you mine it yourself”.
